MINDO CLOUD FOREST
The Tandayapa and Mindo Valleys, just 84 km northwest of Quito, are amongst the best birding sites in South America. Around 430 species have been recorded, with 370 around Mindo alone, the birding here is excellent with species such as Toucan Barbet, Scaled Antpitta, Spillman`s Tapaculo, Little Woodstar, Long-Wattled Umbrellabird, Tanager-finch, Black-crowned Tityra, Golden-Bellied Warbler, Torrent Duck,White-capped Dipper and many more.
AMAZON RAIN FOREST
Spectacular birdwatching in true Amazon rainforest producing wonderful birding experiences and very long lists. The best access to the wildlife and birds of Ecuador’s western Amazon is provided by few excellent jungle lodges situated within an hour of each other along the Napo river: Sacha Lodge, La Selva, Sani Lodge and Napo Wildlife Centre. Each is beautifully situated, operates to a similar pattern, and offers a similar experience of the rainforest. Visitors fly to the small town of Coca, to be met by fast river boats.
ANDEAN COCK OF THE ROCK TRAIL – 3 DAYS
This extraordinary adventure will take place in an area practically still virgin and unknown to visitors. One of the principle attractions here are the spectacular San Rafeal falls; a unique natural display in the immense jungle. On this trip it will be possible to camp and observe the exuberant fauna; spectacled bear, tapir and the famous Andean cock of the rock, of the high Amazon region.
