Andean Experiences:
Exploring the Untamed Nature of Ecuador

Volcanoes, living cultures and historic cities meet across the Ecuadorian Highlands to create an unforgettable journey.

Journey through the Andes
The legendary Avenue of the Volcanoes

A landscape of
fire, ice and ancient stories.

According to Puruhá mythology, Mother Tungurahua's forbidden affair with Mount Altar awakened the fury of Father Chimborazo and forever reshaped the summits of the Andes.

Centuries later, naturalist Alexander von Humboldt was captivated by the alignment of more than 27 active volcanoes and named this dramatic corridor the Avenue of the Volcanoes.

Many peaks rise above 15,000 feet, creating a horizon of permanent snow, immense valleys and volcanic activity that can sometimes be witnessed from a safe and breathtaking distance.

Fertile valleys.
Authentic communities.

Mineral-rich volcanic soil sustains an exceptional agriculture and vibrant indigenous markets filled with exotic produce, flowers and colorful textiles.

Ancient Ecuador was a land of Cacicazgos—societies that flourished through abundant natural resources and strong local identities. Their heritage remains alive in celebrations, crafts, gastronomy and daily life.

Samay Adventures creates respectful encounters with local hosts, markets, haciendas and landscapes, offering a genuine connection to the Earth and the people of the Andes.

History · Architecture · Hospitality

From volcanic valleys
to gilded colonial cities.

Rather than monumental pre-Hispanic stone temples, Ecuador's Andes reveal elegant colonial cities, gold-leaf churches and gracious local hospitality. Quito provides an extraordinary cultural beginning or finale to a journey through the mountains.
